Schlein: “It’s useless to have a female prime minister who doesn’t fight for the lives of other women”

"We usually say that there is a big difference between a female leader and a feminist leader. It is useless to have a female prime minister who does not fight to improve the lives of other women in the country." This was stated by the secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein , speaking at the congress of GroenLinks (Green Left) and the PvdA (Labour Party) in Nieuwegein, in the Netherlands.
The secretary of the Democratic Party continues: "And we can see this difference in what the government has done in these two and a half years, for example, cutting funds for children's education. When resources for public health and welfare are cut, we know what happens in Italy: all the unpaid care work falls on the shoulders of women, and that is the reason why they are left behind at work and also when I want to start an economic activity".
According to Schlein, "therefore, it is useless to have a woman prime minister if she does not fight to improve the living and working conditions of all women or even if she does not fight for their right to choose over their own bodies, because they are allowing anti-abortionists to enter clinics and hospitals to prevent abortions."
